Lupus nephritis is a progresses disease, if no correct treatment is given, the disease will cause many complications. So, diagnosing the disease in the early stage is very vital. Usually, the diagnosis includes three aspects:

Medical history

Since lupus nephritis is the complication of SLE(system lupus erythematosus), thereby, for people who have the history of SLE, they are more likely to have lupus nephritis. So, in order to improve the quality of life and get rid of the lupus nephritis, they should take regular physical examinations.

Urine test is one of the most common tests that can help to have a clear understanding about the condition of kidneys. According to analyze the constituent of urine, we can know whether there is excessive protein.

Through blood test, we can know if Creatinine, BUN(blood urine nitrogen) which need to be discharged out of the body accumulate in the blood. If BUN and creatinine level is higher than the normal level, it indicates kidney function has declined.

In addition, B ultrasound is used to see whether there are cysts or stone in kidneys. In medicine, kidney biopsy is a test in which a small part of kidney tissue is removed out of the body to see in what way kidneys are damaged.
