Renal HematuriaWhat is renal hematuria?

Hematuria is divided into two types, including renal hematuria and non-renal hematuria. Most people suppose that it is not necessary to take measures to treat hematuria. However, we recommend you must find out the root cause of hematuria. This is because the prolonged period lesion of glomerular basement membrane which can lead to kidney injury. For this, renal hematuria must be treated timely and effectively.

What is the clinical pathology of renal hematuria?

Renal hematuria refers that the hematuria comes from glomeruli. The clinical symptom is characterized by simple hematuria or blood urine with proteinuria. And renal hematuria is often seen in primary glomerulopathy like IgA nephropathy, mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis, FSGS, PKD and renal cysts. Also, renal blood urine can also be seen in secondary glomerulopathy , such as Lupus Nephritis and Purpuric Nephritis. Uncontrolled effectively and timely, renal hematuria causes uremia. The pathology of renal hematuria is related to immune system, namely, antigen-antibody complex deposits in the glomerular basement membrane and mesangial area, which damages the glomerular basement membrane filtration barrier and at the same time leads to the mesangial cell and mesangial matrix proliferation. In this case, hematuria appears.

Hematuria and kidney disease

Hematuria is a common symptom of kidney disease. The causes of blood in urine is very complicated and it depends on what is the underlying and primary disease that cause failed kidney functions. It can be caused by damages on the glomerular filtration membrane. The enlarged glomerular filtration membrane allows red blood cells and other large-molecular substances like protein can pass through the membrane and be released into urine. What’s more, it can also be caused by rupture of renal blood vessels because of high blood pressure, oppression from renal cysts or obstruction from kidney stone. Therefore, it is important to have clear and accurate diagnosis so that the treatment can be more effective and targeted.

What are the common symptoms of renal hematuria?

1. Blood in urine

Hematuria can be divided into 2 catogories-gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria. Gross hematuria can be seen with naked eyes and the color of urine can be reddish, dark brown which microscopic hematuria can be seen with the aid of microscope. Blood in urine is the most common symptom of most chronic nephritis patients. Of course, there are many factors which can cause hematuria. Thus, once having the symptom of hematuria, you should see a doctor as early as possible. You should do some relevant checkups and in necessary case you need to do routine urine test so as to exclude the possibility of renal hematuria.

2. Increased bubbles in urine

there are increased bubbles in urine which gives priority to smaller bubbles and can not disappear for a long time. This symptom usually is easily ignored due to lack of medical knowledge. The most simplest method is to do urine test in order to exclude the possibility of protein in urine.

3. Eyelids edema

chronic nephritis’s edema usually appears in the eyelids and the main cause is that the kidney function of filtering water and balancing electrolytes is damaged, which causes sodium and water accumulation in the part of loose organization, so edema is more obvious in eyelids especially in the morning.

Renal hematuria has some relation with kidney disease, but it does not mean all renal hematuria is caused by kidney disease. Therefor, if you are experiencing hematuria, the simplest method is to see a doctor and do some checkups to diagnose the accurate cause of hematuria.
